Join Michelle and learn how to make hand-hooked rugs with the same methods used in the 1800's> You will learn how to plan and design aged looking, primitive style rugs to be hooked on burlap. Traditional dying and finishing techniques will be explored. Meals and Accommodation are available at the abbey if needed and must be booked in advance. Registration Deadline is September 15.

Claimed by experts to be as relaxing as yoga, knitting is today's hottest hobby. Don't be left out, join us and learn to knit or improve your knitting skills. We will cover all the basic skills, including knit and purl, casting on and off, increasing and decreasing pattern reading and fixing mistakes. Did you ever want to make your bindings special? Maybe you don't want to fuss with the usual binding and want something easier. In this class we will go over several different binding options from simple to sublime. You will be making samples of each so you understand them. You can then take these samples home as a reference and try them out on your future projects. ​ - CONFIDENT BEGINNER AND UP. This is a virtual class held on zoom with Melissa Marginet .

Join Melissa Marginet for this virtual class and make samples of different quilting ideas that can be executed on the home sewing machine with a walking foot. Not everyone can afford a longarm quilter or wants to have someone else quilt their quilt, and not everyone enjoys free motion quilting.? You will create samples of walking foot designs on small quilt sandwiches to help you understand what makes each design successful. We will also look at variations of the designs you stitch out. These samples will be a great reference for you when deciding how to quilt your next quilt. This class includes information on quilting all sizes of quilts on the home sewing machine. - ALL LEVELS Based on my book, Walking Foot Quilting Designs, which is recommended for the class and is available at Haus of Stitches

Join Melissa Marginet in this virtual class. In the Wonky Wedges workshop we will make a quilted panel and then turn it into a cushion that is sure to add style to your decor. We will be using improv quilt piecing and a quilt-as-you-go method to create a panel for the front of the cushion. Then we will look at different ways of embellishing the panel with hand or machine stitching and prepare a back for your cushion using the leftovers from your fat quarters. (This technique leaves very little wasted fabric.)

They are non-wired with light support and super comfortable styling, yet are easy to sew and fit. You can wear them around the house, for lounging or sleeping, but some women wear them as their everyday bra! Registration deadline is November 5

If you need relationship counseling with your machine, then this class is for you. Learn what your sewing machine is trying to tell you and also how to tell it what you want. Unravel the mystery of tension, learn light maintenance, and understand the importance of the right foot. Get closer to your machine and spend more time focused on your sewing, less time frustrated. Together we will address tension, feeding of fabric, needle and thread choices and do some fancy footwork! This class is based on Bernie's book You and Your Sewing Machine and a copy in class would make a great resource.

Do you feel like you're having a communication problem with your serger? Yesterday it was behaving and today it's not! Maybe this relationship needs some counselling? Let Bernie be your facilitator to guide you to a better understanding of this sometimes vexing but valuable tool in your sewing room. Learn how to trouble shoot and to understand what it is telling you when it balks at a task. This is a fun, information-filled class where you will learn how to take control and rid yourself of frustration. We will cover basic maintenance and techniques that will have you using your serger with renewed confidence!

Join Bernie in this fun and informative class and learn to give your Singer Featherweight the TLC it needs. Learn about oiling, belt tension, motor brushes, tension calibration and more. In the process you?ll be giving your beloved machine a supervised tune-up. Bernie will have on hand, common replacement parts, just in case they are needed. Please note this class is for Singer Featherweights only. No other older straight stitch machines, please!

Join Diane and make yourself a beautiful custom dress form using your own body measurements. made completely from cloth and stuffed with Poly-Fil. You will make a replica of your own body and shape that will make sewing and fitting garments a breeze. Meals and Accommodations are available at the abbey but must be booked in advance.
